Full Sun to Part Sun

Everyone always wants the plants I have in my garden, so here it is!  These are the best of the best!  Proven winners that generate tons of blooms and habitat for all pollinators, bunnies and turtles.  Very hardy plants that also withstand some deer nibbling as well.

This garden includes:

Anise Hyssop (2 Quart): Blooms from early Summer until front.  A pollinator magnet and a wonderful nectar producer.

Purple Giant Hyssop (1+ Gallon): Sets soft plumes of the palest purple flowers that top out at 6 feet, soaring above most other plants in the garden.  The individual blossoms open over a period of several weeks summer through fall.  That long bloom time, combined with high nectar content, makes this plant highly attractive to bees and butterflies

Jacob Cline Monarda (1+ Gallon): 'Jacob Cline' Monarda is a colorfully vibrant, mildew-resistant variety of the cherished Bee Balm plant. Loved by both gardeners and hummingbirds, crimson red crown-shaped blooms appear on tall, herbaceous plants in mid summer. Its fragrant foliage and tolerance of pests, mildew and clay soils make 'Jacob Cline' a true favorite in the perennial bed.

Hairy Mountain Mint (1+ Gallon):  The small white to lavender flowers have subtle purple spots and are packed with nectar inviting all kinds of bees, wasps, flies, beetles, moths and butterflies. It indeed is one of THE natives to have to attract pollinators.

Bradbury's Monarda (2 Quart): Tolerates sun and shade conditions and average garden soil. It has a wonderful minty/oregano smell, is deer resistant, and will attract many pollinating insects.

Yellow Giant Hyssop(1+ Gallon):  A robust grower and can reach heights from 3 to 7 feet.  Depending on the age and overall size of the plant, its flower spike can be up to 16 inches long!  The blooms open a few at a time in late summer, shifting the color to a subtle soft yellow to the lightest shade of purple; overall it is not at all yellow as the name suggests. These understated blossoms are a booming nectar source, though, drawing and sustaining honeybees, bumblebees, Halictid bees, and butterflies throughout the fall season and oftentimes up to the first frost.

Tuberosa Butterfly Weed (2 Quart): A tough, drought-tolerant native with intense orange flowers in mid to late summer. Attracts many varieties of butterflies and is especially attractive to Monarchs. A beautiful solution for a dry sunny slope! Occurs in dry fields and roadsides in most of the US. Long-lasting, bright orange flowers and a low mounded profile make Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) one of the most popular milkweeds. True to its name, Butterfly Weed attracts legions of butterflies and is an important host plant for Monarch and Queen butterflies. Unusual among milkweeds, its leaves are alternate and it lacks the typical milky sap. This rugged species thrives in sunny locations, in dry sandy soil or well-drained loam.

Great Coneflower (2 Quart): Giant Coneflower has clumps of silvery-blue foliage that give rise to stately flower stalks. The flowers have intense yellow ray flowers that dangle from tall brown centers. It should be cut back to the base after blooming to keep tidy and in stunning planted in mass for best effect.

Arkansas Blue Star Amsonia (1+ Gallon): North American native perennial prized for its attractive, feathery foliage and vibrant fall color. It features clusters of small, pale blue, star-shaped flowers in late spring, followed by a mound of fine-textured, rich green leaves throughout the summer. In the fall, the foliage transforms into a stunning golden-yellow, offering a beautiful display.

Caspian Reed Feather Grass (1+ Gallon): scientifically known as Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Caspian', is a popular ornamental grass prized for its late-season feathery plumes and ability to tolerate various conditions. It's a variety of Korean Feather Reed Grass, known for its sturdy, upright form and tolerance of heat and salt.

'Karl Foerster' Feather Reed Grass (1+ Gallon) creates a dramatic garden accent, with tall, slender, vertical growth and feathery plumes of shifting bronze color that stay in place year-round. An early bloomer, 'Karl Foerster' is a cool season grass that grows most rapidly in the spring season and produces notably early blooms. It is a clump-forming decorative grass, with an upward architectural growth habit, making it a dramatic specimen plant in garden or meadow. Torch-like plumes are widely used in dried flower arrangements. This sterile variety does not self-sow, is deer resistant, and notably cold hardy. (Calamagrostis acutiflora)
