This garden includes:

Anise Hyssop: Blooms from early Summer until front.  A pollinator magnet and a wonderful nectar producer.

Purple Coneflower:  Host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly

Golden Alexanders:  Golden clusters of 3-4" umbels in May and June. Deep green, leathery, handsomely divided basal foliage. This plant supports the larval stage of several Swallowtail butterfly species including Missouri Woodland Swallowtail butterfly, black Swallowtail, and Ozark Swallowtail.

Butterfly Weed: A tough, drought-tolerant native with intense orange flowers in mid to late summer. Attracts many varieties of butterflies and is especially attractive to Monarchs. A beautiful solution for a dry sunny slope! Occurs in dry fields and roadsides in most of the US.

Iron Butterfly Ironweed: "Native to Arkansas only! :)  Host plant for American lady Butterfly

Purple Giant Hyssop: Sets soft plumes of the palest purple flowers that top out at 6 feet, soaring above most other plants in the garden.  The individual blossoms open over a period of several weeks summer through fall.  That long bloom time, combined with high nectar content, makes this plant highly attractive to bees and butterflies

Culver's Root: Host plant for the Buckeye Butterfly

Bradbury's Monarda: Tolerates sun and shade conditions and average garden soil. It has a wonderful minty/oregano smell, is deer resistant, and will attract many pollinating insects.

Garden Phlox 'Jenna': Outstanding mildew resistance with varying shades of sweetly scented, lavender-pink flowers, vibrant midsummer through early autumn.

Great Coneflower: Giant Coneflower has clumps of silvery-blue foliage that give rise to stately flower stalks. The flowers have intense yellow ray flowers that dangle from tall brown centers. It should be cut back to the base after blooming to keep tidy and in stunning planted in mass for best effect.

Lance Leaf Coreopsis:  Wonderful pollinator plant that regenerates generously year after year.

Yellow Giant Hyssop:  A robust grower and can reach heights from 3 to 7 feet.  Depending on the age and overall size of the plant, its flower spike can be up to 16 inches long!  The blooms open a few at a time in late summer, shifting the color to a subtle soft yellow to the lightest shade of purple; overall it is not at all yellow as the name suggests. These understated blossoms are a booming nectar source, though, drawing and sustaining honeybees, bumblebees, Halictid bees, and butterflies throughout the fall season and oftentimes up to the first frost.

Swamp Sunflower:  Grows in sunny wet habitats throughout the southeastern U.S., you may even see it in roadside ditches.  The leaves can serve as a host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot butterfly, Gorgone Checkerspot butterfly and Painted Lady.

Hairy Mountain Mint:  The small white to lavender flowers have subtle purple spots and are packed with nectar inviting all kinds of bees, wasps, flies, beetles, moths and butterflies. It indeed is one of THE natives to have to attract pollinators.

Jacob Cline Monarda: 'Jacob Cline' Monarda is a colorfully vibrant, mildew-resistant variety of the cherished Bee Balm plant. Loved by both gardeners and hummingbirds, crimson red crown-shaped blooms appear on tall, herbaceous plants in mid summer. Its fragrant foliage and tolerance of pests, mildew and clay soils make 'Jacob Cline' a true favorite in the perennial bed.
