This beautiful garden is designed to attract a variety of butterfly species, including Monarchs, Silvery Checkerspots, Buckeyes, Ozark Swallowtails, and Black Swallowtails. The colorful and fragrant native plants included in this reservation are carefully selected to provide food and habitat for butterflies throughout the seasons. This garden includes:

New England Asters:  Host plant for Silvery Checkerspots, Pearl Crescents, and Painted Ladies.

 

Anise Hyssop: Blooms from early Summer until front.  A pollinator magnet and a wonderful nectar producer.

 

Purple Coneflower:  Host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly

 

Golden Alexanders:  Golden clusters of 3-4" umbels in May and June. Deep green, leathery, handsomely divided basal foliage. This plant supports the larval stage of several Swallowtail butterfly species including Missouri Woodland Swallowtail butterfly, black Swallowtail, and Ozark Swallowtail. 

 

Butterfly Weed: A tough, drought-tolerant native with intense orange flowers in mid to late summer. Attracts many varieties of butterflies and is especially attractive to Monarchs. A beautiful solution for a dry sunny slope! Occurs in dry fields and roadsides in most of the US.

 

Iron Butterfly Ironweed: "Native to Arkansas only! :)  Host plant for American lady Butterfly

 

Bronze Fennel:  6’ tall bronze fern like stalks topped with yellow flowers.  A pollinator magnet and a host plant for the Black Swallowtail butterfly 

 

Purple Giant Hyssop: Sets soft plumes of the palest purple flowers that top out at 6 feet, soaring above most other plants in the garden.  The individual blossoms open over a period of several weeks summer through fall.  That long bloom time, combined with high nectar content, makes this plant highly attractive to bees and butterflies

  • YOU ARE RESERVING THIS GARDEN PACKAGE FOR SPRING 2025.  This reservation allows us to know what we need to grow during the winter months in our greenhouse.  As Spring 2025 draws closer a date for your package pick up will be established.  All packages are picked up at our farm and gardens in mid Spring as soon as weather and plants are stable.

    Plants will be paid for on package pick up day in person.  We will keep you posted along the way as Spring draws closer with all payment and pick up details.
