This garden includes:

New England Asters:  Host plant for Silvery Checkerspots, Pearl Crescents, and Painted Ladies.

Anise Hyssop: Blooms from early Summer until front.  A pollinator magnet and a wonderful nectar producer.

Purple Coneflower:  Host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly

Bradbury's Monarda: Tolerates sun and shade conditions and average garden soil. It has a wonderful minty/oregano smell, is deer resistant, and will attract many pollinating insects.

Golden Alexanders:  Golden clusters of 3-4" umbels in May and June. Deep green, leathery, handsomely divided basal foliage. This plant supports the larval stage of several Swallowtail butterfly species including Missouri Woodland Swallowtail butterfly, black Swallowtail, and Ozark Swallowtail.

Jacob Cline Monarda: 'Jacob Cline' Monarda is a colorfully vibrant, mildew-resistant variety of the cherished Bee Balm plant. Loved by both gardeners and hummingbirds, crimson red crown-shaped blooms appear on tall, herbaceous plants in mid summer. Its fragrant foliage and tolerance of pests, mildew and clay soils make 'Jacob Cline' a true favorite in the perennial bed.

Yellow Giant Hyssop:  A robust grower and can reach heights from 3 to 7 feet.  Depending on the age and overall size of the plant, its flower spike can be up to 16 inches long!  The blooms open a few at a time in late summer, shifting the color to a subtle soft yellow to the lightest shade of purple; overall it is not at all yellow as the name suggests.

Hairy Mountain Mint:  The small white to lavender flowers have subtle purple spots and are packed with nectar inviting all kinds of bees, wasps, flies, beetles, moths and butterflies. It indeed is one of THE natives to have to attract pollinators.
